Wellington College Academy Trust

Wellington College Academy Trust (the Trust) is a charitable company governed by its Board of Trustees (also known as Directors). Its constitution (also known as the Articles of Association) is guarded by its Members.

The Trust is often referred to as a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT because its Board has entered into Funding Agreements (contracts) with the Secretary of State for Education to provide funding for more than one academy: Wellington Primary Academy and The Wellington Academy. The Board of Trustees has three core functions of governance to fulfil:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  2. Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent
